Presentation Problem? Anyone?

Usually, because of my outspoken attitude, people tend to think I'm good at presentation, but that's not the case.
Professional people will know at once I'm not that good at speeches, that I just merely talk a lot. That's talkative not good in speech.
However, I came to a book by Jeffery Gitomer who teaches sales to people. So I'm going to give a few advices to people that I think helped me in my presentation.

#1
Know your stuff.
If you don't understand your own topic, how are you going to expect the audience to understand you? So first, really do a bit of research until you really understand your own topic. Don't worry about other people's topic, they'll present theirs to you anyway, so why waste your time?

#2
Believe in your stuff.
This overlaps #1, where I would stress on the research. The difference here is, you have to believe in your topic that you are going to present, then you'll have any possibility that your audience would be convinced by your topic.

#3
Stress on only the important points.
This is where I always have trouble (chuckle...) You are given a limited amount of time. So know what is important, and stress on that. You may like to increase your volume on that important part, or just use words or phrases like "I find this very important..." or "now THIS is important."
However, do not keep using them, if everything is important, then everything is just as unimportant to the audience, they'll not listen.

#4 Simplify your Powerpoint
Now this is what some people like to do; they have their words swirling round and round or until they arrive on the spot they are supposed to, then wiggle it a bit just to tell the audience "I am good in this, eh?". The whole idea is pointless and harmful to your presentation. It is distractive and it wastes time. Make the words appear as simple as possible, like just let it slide in in less than 2 seconds. That way, people focus MORE on YOU and YOUR TOPIC than your animations.

#5 Prepare
Not much I want to stress here, just that after #1 until #4 be sure to revise your points and be sure of the order of your points you want to present. People may say "Just be confident and be calm up there, no need further preparation." or "The problem is only in the nerves.". Again, that is not the case. If you did not prepare well, how can you be confident while presenting. When you are not confident, how can you not be nervous?

#6 Wardrobe choices...
Choose clothes which are presentable and comfortable for you. It must be comfortable, to ease you when you speak.

#7 When presenting...
Ok, besides #3, I'd like you to focus on a few things. Lean forward a little bit while you are talking. This way the audience will feel you are focusing on sending your message to them. Use different tones of voice and volume in your speech. You don't have to USE LOUD ALL THE WAY!!!! Use a mixture of all the tones, sometimes slow down your volume a bit so that people are interested to know what you are so secretive about... Besides, people do like gossips. Again I must stress that use a mixture of tones, monotonous presentation seriously bores people. Oh yeah, try not to use words like "but, however etc" those sort. It means the phrases you state before, are useless.

So this is what I can tell for presentation. I hope I can help you. Just in case you find it interesting, you may want to introduce this blog to your friends(Chuckle). Hey, it's good to help people isn't it?
